Our Story

SIGMA Hair Academy was created from a genuine passion for education and a commitment to raising standards within modern barbering.

Built on real experience behind the chair and in education, it is grounded in professional qualifications and a belief that barbering should be understood, not just copied.

Since 2023, SIGMA Hair Academy has been running from within SIGMA Hair Studio, delivering hands-on education, workshops, and seminars for barbers at all stages of their journey.

At its core, the focus is simple: develop individuals who understand their craft deeply, can adapt with confidence, and perform at a consistently high level.

This is structured, honest education built on experience, not shortcuts.

We teach how to think, not what to think.

A dedicated academy space will officially launch in 2027, continuing the evolution of SIGMA as a leading name in barbering education.

Andy Dawson is an award-winning barber, educator, and business owner with over a decade of experience in the barbering industry.

Having previously been a director at one of the UK’s leading barbering education brands, MENSPIRE, Andy went on to found SIGMA Hair Studio in 2023, building a brand rooted in high standards, technical excellence, and modern barbering culture.

A two-time UK Barber of the Year, Andy has delivered education across the UK and Europe at all levels, and has collaborated with globally recognised brands and public figures.

Alongside his work behind the chair, Andy is a qualified barber, teacher, and assessor, combining hands-on industry experience with formal teaching credentials to ensure education is structured, credible, and effective.

His approach is built on leading by example — combining discipline, consistency, and real-world experience to develop barbers who understand their craft at a deeper level.

At the core of his teaching philosophy is one principle:
